FOBP End-of Ski Season Film Festival
Share your ski season at the Friends of Berthoud Pass Amateur Film Festival hosted by Wilderness Exchange!
Now that ski season has come to a somewhat premature ending, edit your footage of any good runs you got this year and send them on in. If you're the only person left in the Front Range who doesn't own a Go Pro, come down and watch your friends' videos. We'll cap off the evening with a showing of Kyle Miller's Freerider, a video about riding big lines in the PNW.

TRIP REPORT: Hagar Mountain
Couple days ago Jeff and I went out to check out some of the spring conditions we got here in the front range. Jeff had heard a word that Hagar Mountain had some decent lines in, so we went up and checked it out.

Shelf Road season!!!
Training tips for climbing Shelf Road:
- Don’t eat. EVER!!! You may think your stomach is saying “yo dude!! I need some carbs to send!!” But what its actually saying is “listen, you pudgy little punter, if you weigh me down with one more delicious organic treat I can guarantee that you will NOT be sending that sad little pile you’ve been calling your project”.

The Magical Land of Kay
The land of Kay is a small planet that very much resembles this one. It is much smaller, and frankly, way better. There are no seasonal changes in Kay, because they are unnecessary. There are no troubles with overpopulation, hunger, war or pollution. The people of Kay figured out all of their global issues long go and thought them all to be pretty simple. The political climate of Kay is a Libertarian/anarchist utopia – this works because everyone is very nice and globally conscious.

Ibex to make you flex!!
Summer is nearly over. We’ve all probably sweat out a few pounds over the hot summer months. I know I have. Sometimes on a nice hot day I like to make the most of a long drive by rolling up the windows and turning on the heat just a bit. I call this technique the “car sauna”. Most people I share this idea with say it sound horrible, some even say unsafe when I tell them that I like to tough it out until I’m about to pass out. Whatever, you can call it crazy, but I call it multitasking.

Six Degrees
Working in a gear shop can be super mind-opening and revealing sometimes. Take, for example, this most recent buy of discounted Omega Pacific climbing gear. While going through hundreds of blemed OP Wedgies, carabiners, Link Cams, and snow pickets, I came across a strange realization that OP climbing gear kinda lies in the middle of the universe. You might ask yourself “are you on drugs Uncle Fingers?” but before you make those kinds of assumptions, let me explain a little and demonstrate.

Closeout Chacos and canine studies
Well, its late summer now, and fall will soon be upon us. The nights are getting colder, the air more arid, and the local climbing temps are approaching “most best”.
I was going to post a video of me taking an enormous, gear ripping, screamer off some route in Clear Creek… but then I got distracted by a massive shipment of closeout 2011 Chaco footwear. As soon as I saw the overloaded pallets of Chaco goodness, I started jumping up and down, clapping my hands together and shrieking with glee and unbridled excitement. The delivery driver gave

Narwhals love closeout deals
Anyone who known me knows that I am a man who loves unicorns. Narwhals are like the unicorns of the sea!! And while they are an endangered species, they’re still more common than unicorns. This means that I have a much better chance of riding a Narwhal into the sunset than I do of riding a unicorn down a rainbow highway into a magical forest filled with gum-drops, IPA waterfalls and electric guitars.

Apocalypse now?
Well, it looks like the world is coming to an end. What with the earthquakes here in Colorado, and the ones along the east coast, AND that big ole’ hurricane coming in - what’s her name? Irene? I think they should have called her Beyonce. Whatever. Then of course the wedding of Kim Kardashian. Then Kim and Kris’s honeymoon being delayed by a heard of goats. And the whole stock market thing… it seems like all signs are pointing toward apocalypse. I reckon here in a couple years our world is going to look a heck of a lot like that movie The Road.

La Sportiva - Oh the places you'll GO!!!
My Girlfriend reads me bedtime stories sometimes. She does this only under the contingency that I have behaved myself that day. Behaving myself consist of doing my chores, like vacuuming the floor, feeding the dogs, vacuuming the dogs and giving her massages. I also have to not pick my nose and stare at people when we are in public together, and not say stupid things by mistake.

Be happy
Life is too short not to have a good time. It’s important to avoid stress and to do things that make you feel good. I mean, you always have a choice when you get down in the dumps. You can invert into your own polluted consciousness, allow yourself to be sucked into the downward spiral of your on negativity, OR, you could just eat some ice cream and turn on some music that makes you happy.
